AS WELL AS TEACHING ENGLISH, I AM ALSO AN AQA EXAMINER FOR THE NEW GCSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE CURRICULUM INTRODUCED IN 2017.

My passion and drive comes from looking forward to and enjoying helping my students to reach their highest potential. All my lessons have been graded ‘Good’ and mostly ‘Outstanding’ by both Ofsted and my line managers.

After teaching Childcare and Education at Further Education College for five years, I have been teaching GCSE English Language & Literature for 7 years and tutored part-time for three years. I am also a qualified Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) and I teach GCSE English language and literature to students ranging from year 7 (11yrs) to year 11 (16yrs).

In addition to teaching English full time, I have also been part of the `learning leader` team within my school which entails providing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to all members of staff and mentoring 10-12 of these throughout the year. I have also provided support to newly qualified teachers and cover teachers as well as training to LSA staff; helping them to improve their practice in working with professional teachers and their assigned SEN students. My other role within the school has been the EAL (English as an Additional Language) coordinator which entails identifying, training and supporting staff who teach students for whom English is a second language and students who struggle with spoken and written English.

My hobbies include: directing and performing Shakespearean drama, reading European and Post-colonial literature, cooking, growing my own vegetables through a hydroponic system and creating hand designed/woven rugs.

Academic Qualifications:

BA Hons – English and US literature

Masters – English – Shakespeare

PGCE – Teacher Training

QTS – Fully qualified teacher Status

SLE – Specialist Leader of Education

Testimonial

“I had Sujata throughout year 11 and I could not have asked for a better tutor. Not only did she push me to achieve brilliant grades in both language and literature, but Sujata has an amazing way of teaching so even people who dislike English as a subject (myself included), can clearly understand the way the examiner would look at the paper. This has allowed me to have a greater understanding of how I should write down my answers and benefited my grades significantly.

I would strongly recommend Sujata to anyone who is looking for a tutor.” – Chelmsford year 11 student
